I have spent 7 years doing professional web design, first as a freelance web designer working for various professional design/marketing firms all around the world, and now working for GA Communications as a web designer for the Creative Web Team, all while simultaneously running my own professional web design company, Cranium Designs.

Worked on creative web team to manage various corporate clients’ projects, including Safeway, Longs, and Orchard Supply Hardware.

  • Designed web layouts, promotional graphics, emails, and other page designs
  • Converted designs into working web sites using XHTML, CSS2, and Javascript.
  • Dealt with clients directly to meet their needs in a timely manner
  • Designed and created ePOS (electronic point of sale) animated banners for use on all of Safeway’s in-store checkout screens

Lead designer and staff developer for the Institutional Web team (Iweb), creating all the designs for the Lab's institutional level web sites, as well as developing projects for other Laboratory departments, including logos and Flash animation.

  • Created a standardized library of icons for all the Iweb team’s applications and portals.
  • Developed the design for the Lab’s internal communication portal, MyLLNL, and implemented the design into Oracle’s template system, including an XML-driven Flash Actionscript slideshow in the header of the design. Also used Oracle’s CMS to maintain the portal on a daily basis.
  • Created the design for Site 300’s portal (an external explosives testing site in the hills of Tracy, CA), MySite300, implemented the design into Oracle’s template system, including an XML-driven flash Actionscript menu system.
  • Developed the design for the Lab’s News information system. All pages were fully coded in CSS to style everything without the customer having to know any extra code. The site was PHP driven using a header and footer include keeping the design consistent and easy to maintain.

Web Designer (Intern for the PCMDI Department)

Developed new features to enhance the PCMDI site (www-pcmdi.llnl.gov/)

  • Decreased require maintenance of the site by redesigning the web site with PHP front-end and MySQL back-end in order to facilitate dynamic features.
  • Implemented new features to enhance the user’s experience, including printer-friendly versions of pages, as well as user feedback forms, and a large-scale calendar application that the scientists could administrate with no technical knowledge at all.
